The abbreviation UJOP stands for its Slovak name "Ustav jazykovej a odbornej pripravy" which is in English "Institute for Language and Academic Preparation" for foreign students. 

Since it´s establishment in 1960, about 8.000 students passed its gates for further study or work in Slovakia.
